FAQs

FAQ’s with Healthy Tart Nutritionist, Trisha Stewart!

Q: I have – cellulite – fat bum and legs – fat belly what can I do about this

  • Follow the 30 day plan and choose the exercise routine that fits in with your particular problem. Cellulite will stick around in the layers between the skin, massage and skin brush too

Q: Why is the programme vegan/vegetarian

  • The body needs to be able to cleanse and heal and it cannot do that when taking in foods that will create the wrong environment for healing and regenerating.

Q: I like to eat meat, can I still follow the 30 day plan

  • No – the body needs less work to do.  The 30 day programme is designed to do the job of cleansing, healing and regenerating and it cannot do that by taking in foods that will compromise the work. If you still want to eat meat after this time – make sure you have read all the facts and reasons for not doing so and then make an educated decision on what works best for you.

Q: What if I don’t like all the foods on the 30 day plan

  • Try your best to eat as much of the recommended foods as possible. The programme has been designed to not only cleanse and heal the body but to give you energy too. If you find a day of recipes that you really like have this more often but do not miss meals, just do the best you possibly can, hopefully with the recipe book and all the help I can give, you will learn to try new foods and get to enjoy them, it is often the way foods have been presented to you in the past that causes a dislike to them. Be adventurous.

Q: I eat because I feel stressed which makes me crave certain foods

  • Stress is a major factor in ill health and disease. If you are craving certain foods it is because your brain remembers the type of foods you enjoy – these will typically be sugar, sweets, chocoloate, crisps, bread, refined carbohydrates and so on. What happens when you eat these foods they raise the blood sugar levels (glucose) in the body and due to their nature of these foods they will quickly drop the blood sugar levels too, thus creating a need for more.
  • By ensuring you eat enough unrefined and slow carbohydrate foods you should not have this problem.
  • Following the 30 day plan and a good exercise routine will combat this problem and also help you deal with the stress in a more manageable way.

Q: Should I have colonic irrigation

  • This is a choice you need to make – I prefer people to work with real food and pure water and perhaps a little help from herbs or pro-biotics and enzymes.  Work with the 30 day plan and if you still feel you would like to have this treatment ensure you find a really good therapist, preferably one that has been recommended.

Q: Should I take supplements

  • Sometimes this is useful, especially if health has been compromised or you have a particular disease, illness or stress that needs more nutritional support than you can get from foods alone. I will recommend products that will help to support the body systems and organs and to heal and regenerate.

Q: Should I meditate or find some way or relaxing

  • Most definitely, use whatever suits you from a simple CD for meditation or relaxation to attending meditation practice, yoga, tai chi or even just sitting or lying on the couch for twenty minutes daily, closing your eyes and dumping your thoughts.

Q: What if I have a nut allergy

  • Make sure this is an allergy and not an intolerance . If it is an intolerance this will be due to a compromised digestive system and a sluggish liver, by working with my recommendations and the 30 day plan this problem should disappear. If it is a true allergy then please avoid nuts and for more protein choose seeds, grains, lentils, pulses (beans).

Q: I think I have food allergies and may not be able to follow the programme, what should I do

  • First of all identify if this is a food intolerance or an allergy, they have some similar symptoms (see article). If you have a food intolerance, which most people do, work through the 30 day plan and read the book relevant to you and you will overcome this. It is due to your body systems and organs being overtaxed by poor diet, stress, illness and dehydration.  Coming soon online I will be offering various laboratory testing to help identify anything that is causing your health to be under par. Or you can visit my clinic where I will use the “BEST system” to identify any problems and work out an individually tailored approach, this can be a day visit or a residential retreat or bootcamp.

Q: I have diabetes, will I be able to follow the recommendations in the book and the 30 day programme

  • Yes, the programme and books are designed with this in mind, to not only prevent diabetes but to help to normalise blood sugar levels in those with pre-diabetes – type 11 diabetes and those with type 1 diabetes (these people may need to check their blood sugar level more regularly, as often the blood sugar levels will drop too low due eating the right type of foods, some may even find they can reduce the amount of insulin they are taking).

Q: What about if I am pregnant or wanting to become pregnant, should I follow any of the recommendations in the book and follow the 30 day programme

  • Healthy Tart, Healthy Bunch Cookbook and the 30 day programme if you are trying to conceive or are already pregnant will be invaluable, you just need to make sure that you are eating enough, keeping up with the fluids, following an appropriate exercise routine and relaxing.

Q: I have an overweight child, could they follow the 30 day programme and will they be getting all the nutrition a growing child will need

  • Yes, providing your child will eat everything that is stated and not miss meals or snack on junk food secretly. The most important factor is to eat the best foods in the right quantities, this is all outlined in the relevant books. A great exercise routine will be really helpful.

Q: My child has eczema – should I follow the recommendations on this website and in the books, will this be safe.

  • Childhood eczema can be caused by the poor diet of the Mother during pregnancy, not having breast milk, using formula milk instead and even a traumatic birth (see article on eczema). Introducing your child to the 30 day programme will help to reduce the level of inflammation and then consequently the soreness, wounds and skin will heal. You must however ensure you child is eating enough of the recommended foods to ensure they have enough good nutrition to grow properly. This may mean monitoring your child carefully.

Note:  The 30 day detox program is included in both Healthy Tart and The Healthy Dude book; adapted for women and men respectively.
